It is important to intentionally integrate instruction regarding this fundamental skill into curricula and ensure that learners attain a sufficient level of competence before they enter their clinical experiences. An artificial intelligence-driven virtual simulation was designed to enhance teaching of this skill using the S-Summarize history and physical examination findings, N-Narrow the differential, A-Analyze the differential, P-Probe the preceptor, P-Plan management, S-Select a case-related topic for self-directed learning (SNAPPS) approach. A customized report based on a rubric provided students with meaningful formative feedback regarding their ability to apply and communicate knowledge and demonstrate clinical reasoning. Quantitative and qualitative feedback was included.
