This reversible and dynamic modification involves methyltransferases, demethylases, and reader proteins. Aberrant expression of m6A-related regulatory proteins in the nervous system significantly impacts neuronal physiology, contributing to mental disorders such as depression, autism spectrum disorder, and schizophrenia.
