Development of the Nurse Scientist Mentor Role to Support Clinical Scholarship of DNP Students.
Clinical RNs and advanced practice nurses in the United States wanting to change clinical practice based on best evidence are returning for their DNP degree. Chief nursing officers can position their organizations for improved patient, clinician, or system outcomes by leveraging a robust nursing research and evidence-based practice department that comprised both PhD and DNP nurse scientists. Utilizing a DNP nurse scientist mentor embedded in the department connects DNP student employees to experts in scholarly practice. This role can lead to the development of DNP projects that are sustainable and add value to the healthcare system.
