Fifteen-minute consultation: vaccine hesitancy-answering common questions.
Vaccine hesitancy is on the rise and it is important clinicians are able to provide information clearly and correctly to address concerns raised. This article provides an evidence-based overview on communication strategies to address vaccine hesitant parents. It also runs through evidence-based answers on addressing common questions relating to vaccines such as 'overloading' the immune system, vaccine ingredients (aluminium, formaldehyde, thiomersal/thimerosal, gelatine, egg content), separate vaccines and the benefits of vaccines in addition to breastfeeding. Finally, readers are provided with useful resources for both themselves and parents to facilitate informed decision-making on immunisations.
