Acute arterial occlusion due to abdominal aortic tumour-thrombus in relapsed osteosarcoma: A case report

We describe a 21-year-old male patient with a history of relapsed osteosarcoma who presented with symptoms consistent with acute right lower limb ischaemia. He had received 7 cycles of palliative Regorafenib 160 mg once daily. Imaging demonstrated an occluded abdominal aorta. Histopathology of a resected thrombus cast revealed metastatic tumour-thrombus. Re-perfusion of his lower limb was achieved. This case report emphasises the importance of inter-professional collaboration in managing patients with rare cancers who present as an emergency. To our knowledge, this is the first case reporting an arterial tumour-thrombus in a patient with relapsed osteosarcoma.
