Comparative Study of Volatile Components in Zingiber Officinale Rosc. From Different Locations of Kumaun Region of Uttarakhand with GC-MS
A comparative study of the volatile components of Zingiber officinale Rosc. collected from 12 different geographical locations of 5 districts of Kumaun region of Uttarakhand has been conducted for the first time. Essential oils were extracted via hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus, and their chemical composition was examined using a GC-MS instrument. GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 90 compounds, of which the primary compounds were α-zingiberene (4.66–21.89%), α-curcumene (4.05–14.83%), β-phellandrene (5.13–13.32%), α-farnesene (6.01–11.80%), neral (0.44–11.02%), geranial (0.65–15.41%), β-sesquiphellandrene (1.47–11.97%), eucalyptol (1.70-13.66%), camphene (2.83–10.44%), and γ-cadinene (0.72–9.21%).
