Toward a Sustainable Development: Role of Sustainable Raw Material in Apparel Industry
The sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the 2030 agenda are a collection of global, social, and environmental objectives with an emphasis on improving the quality of education and promoting ethical and ecologically responsible industrial practices. Due to the large volumes of carbon dioxide it produces, the significant water it requires, and the release of potentially hazardous chemicals into the air, the apparel business has a tremendous influence on the environment. Customers nowadays are well-informed about the dangers of pollution and the need of eco-friendly clothes and laundry practices; as a result, the firm would benefit greatly from catering to this market. Interest in sustainable fashion, eco-fashion, and ethical fashion is increasing among designers. It is impossible to conserve fashion without an understanding of the production process, consumer habits, and the materials used to make clothing (including garment purchasing, care, and disposal). Although this concept of sustainable fashion has the potential to affect both cutting-edge design and the latest trend, it is challenging to implement due to the rapid growth of the garment industry and the numerous challenges that must be overcome. Human rights abuses, the exploitation of child labor, and discrimination against employees, as well as severe environmental repercussions such water pollution, the emission of dangerous chemicals, the build-up of garbage, and the loss of rainforests, are all attributable to the garment business.
