Unsymmetrical 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles were synthesized by the condensation of 4-(1,4-benzodioxan-6-yl)tetrahydro-2<i>H</i>-pyran-4-carbonyl chloride with various acid hydrazides, followed by cyclization of the resulting diacylhydrazines with phosphoryl chloride. The reaction of previously reported 4-(1,4-benzodioxan-6-yl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carbonyl chloride with hydrazine hydrate gave symmetrical diacylhydrazine which was cyclized to 2,5-bis[4-(1,4-benzodioxan-6-yl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole by the action of phosphoryl chloride.
