Taking soil slope as an example, this paper connects the development process of slope deformation with the stress and strain state inside the slope through finite element data simulation, finds the evolution law of slope instability failure from the change process of displacement, establishes the relationship between slope deformation monitoring data and stability. The research results show that: with the decrease of the safety factor, the displacement of measuring point increases gradually. When the slope is near failure, the displacement of measuring point increases abruptly. At the same time, the displacement of measuring point at different positions on the slope is different, the increase in displacements of measuring point in the range of sliding body is very significant, revealing the different sensitivities of slope stability development. Therefore, the sensitivity of different locations should be fully considered when arranging the monitoring points in the slope monitoring project.
