GAS, a primary cause of pharyngitis and invasive infections, is conventionally treated with β-lactam antibiotics such as penicillin. However, the recent evidence raises concerns about the treatment efficacy with reduced susceptibility, the diagnostic limitations, and the potential for complications such as acute rheumatic fever.
