Pull-out tests with varied lengths of thread engagement and thread overlapping are carried out for different thread types and thread sizes to validate a new evaluation approach for the required minimum length of engagement. Experimental and computationally validated approach for determining the minimum length of thread engagement for bolted joints with formed female threads
Beside the strength ratio of the material the length of thread engagement and the size of the pilot hole diameter determine the quasi-static strength of bolted joints with formed female threads. Pull-out tests with varied lengths of thread engagement and thread overlapping are carried out for different thread types and thread sizes to validate a new evaluation approach for the required minimum length of engagement.
