Patients were randomly assigned to either a control group (no TXA) or an experimental group (1 g TXA 30 minutes before surgery). Blood loss, blood transfusion rate and volume, and hemoglobin levels were analyzed.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>hemoglobin loss in the control group was 3.5 ± 1.4 g/dl compared to 2.5 ± 1.5 g/dl in the experimental group (p = 0.006). Hematocrit loss was 10.6% ± 3.5 in the control group and 8% ± 4.9 in the experimental group (p = 0.02).
