There was some of this, especially related to COVID. The federal workforce, especially at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, was decimated. It took more than a couple years to set things straight again. But the people in the trenches – the treatment programs, the street outreach workers, the clinicians who dedicate their lives to helping people with substance use disorders – were not affected by what happened in elections. They kept working to help patients and all who needed help.
