Twinning is explained by the polytype character: layers with (idealized) <jats:italic>p</jats:italic>2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>11 symmetry can connect via either 1‾ or 2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub> operations, leading to geometrically distinct pairs of layers.
