While effective in reducing transmission, these lockdowns have had significant repercussions on mental health. This study examines the prevalence and incidence of mental health problems during the COVID-19 lockdowns, comparing countries that implemented strict lockdown measures with those that did not. Using statistical analysis, we demonstrate that lockdowns are associated with a statistically significant increase in mental health issues.
