There is evidence that preexisting cardiac disease can render individuals vulnerable. A large number of patients with COVID-19 present with preexisting cardiovascular disease or develop new-onset cardiac dysfunction during the course of the illness. Therefore, particular attention should be given to cardiovascular protection during COVID-19 treatment.
