Psychological resistance to extreme conditions in the organisational behavior of professional rescuers and firefighters
Introduction. The problem of ensuring psychological resistance to extreme conditions in the organisational behavior of professional rescuers and firefighters seems relevant, theoretically and practically significant in modern science. The purpose of the article is to study a number of current problems related to ensuring psychological resistance to extreme conditions in the organisational behavior of professional rescuers and firefighters. Psychological resistance of rescuers and firefighters is an important organisational goal, but not an established fact. In this setting it is necessary to take into accountat least motivational, sensorimotor, cognitive and emotional-volitional components. Psychological resistance to extreme conditions in the organisational behavior of rescuers and firefighters requires scientifically sound, effective, productive and efficient management. Methods. Both general and special methods of cognition developed and tested by psychological science were used in the research: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, systemic research; cross-sectoral theoretical and methodological approach. Results. The authors substantiate the following point of view: while the implementation of direct rescue and fire-fighting functions is undoubtedly important, the psychological factor plays a significant role. Suddenness and unexpected changes in the situation predetermine an adequate pace of action. Rescuers and firefighters must display ability to mobilise psychologically, mend the differences and promote cohesion, thereby ensuring that rivalry is minimised and the entire personnel are integrated into a single, responsive mechanism. This requires the formation of volitional powers and corresponding habits of the organisational behavior.
