Photoluminescence with a Quasi-White Spectrum in LiF–UO2 Crystals with Color Centers
Abstract
The authors study spectral characteristics of LiF–UO2 crystals with radiation-induced color centers and their stability under emissions of a blue light emitting diode. A luminescence band with the bandwidth of 500–750 nm is observed upon such excitation, indicating LiF crystals containing a uranium impurity and radiation-induced color centers (F2, \({\text{F}}_{3}^{ + }\)) can be used as a phosphor for white light sources that has high stability due to special radiation treatment.
