Effect of Chlorine Introduction on Luminescent Properties of Novel Eu3+ Coordination Compounds with β-Diketones and Unsatured Carboxylic Acids
The paper examines the effect of introducing a chlorine atom into the coordination sphere of a rare earth ion for two novel Eu3+ organometallic compounds. Using spectral and time-resolved measurements, we show that the introduction of a chlorine atom provides a way to achieve a significant increase (from 27 to 36%) in the luminescence efficiency of the studied compounds due to coordination symmetry breaking in the complexes.
