Problems of diagnosis and prognosis of tumors in children
Introduction. Tumor pathology in children is frequently encountered in children and over several years, an increase in these pathologies has been observed among the pediatric population. Early treatment versus delayed diagnosis is a problem in the pediatric population. Objective of the study. Analysis of tumor markers in the diagnosis and prognosis of tumors in children. Materials and methods. 88 blood samples were analyzed in which tumor markers were determined in children with tumors located in different anatomical areas of the body. They were analyzed. Oxidative stress indices, thiol-disulfide metabolism indices, antioxidant system indices, inflammatory markers were analyzed. The study was carried out within the State project “Modern personalized surgery in the diagnosis and complex treatment of tumors in children” 2020 2023. Results. Inflammatory markers showed significant values in children with tumor processes. VEGF in both malignant and benign tumor processes was observed with significant deviations. In the environment for benign tumor processes being 140,876 ± 34.68 pg/ml and for malignant ones 79.12 ± 15.14 pg/ml. The largest deviation was detected in tumor processes in the abdominal region, being 246.21 ± 34.14 pg/ml, and the smallest being in malignant processes, 79.12 ± 15.14 pg/ml. Conclusion: Inflammatory markers can be early diagnostic indicators of tumor pathology in the pediatric population.
