Hence, the search for the optimal configuration that maximises fatigue life can be tackled as the condition of minimum effective stress obtained by changing the weld shape and geometrical parameters. Both load-carrying cruciform joints and spot welds made of steel have been considered. The structural details have been studied by modelling actual shapes without any geometric simplification.
