In particular, there is a need for dynamic contact analysis to determine the energy interaction between tyres and road surfaces. However, the methods developed to date are limited in that they require either numerous contact patches inside the tyre or sensor devices on the ground. In this study, we propose a new method for dynamic tyre-ground contact analysis that overcomes these limitations. By installing a two-dimensional image sensor inside the tyre, deformations can be observed and quantified three-dimensionally during vehicle operation.
