Economic factors have played an important role in pushing people from the rural areas to migrate to the urban or semi urban areas in search of work. This migration has a profound impact on the individual, community and the nation at large. This article attempts to discuss the portrayal of migration from rural areas in Hindi cinema by highlighting the major discourse and pattern of societal reflection as depicted on screen.
