In the image of the autobiographical hero-writer, Rasputin embodies the drama of the artist, overcoming the inconsistency of the rational and irrational sides of creativity. It is concluded that the laws of art and the mystery of creativity in the writer's prose are connected with unraveling the mystery of life and death, with comprehending the mystery of being.
