Clinical Features and Functional State of the Adrenal Cortex and Thyroid Gland in Children with Covid-19 during the Recovery Period
The available literature provides limited data on the demographic and clinical features of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children. This information is especially important because pneumonia is the single leading cause of death in children worldwide. Research in this direction is particularly important to clarify and better understand the global impact of COVID-19 on the pediatric population. Unlike adults, most infected children have a milder course and have better results overall. This article also provides an analysis of the violation of the functional state of the adrenal cortex and thyroid gland in children, features of laboratory and biochemical changes based on a study of the history of the disease in children receiving treatment for coronavirus infection. At the same time, the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone, total T3, total T4 and cortisol in children who had a coronavirus infection was assessed. The last stage demonstrates the prevention and rehabilitation of children after coronavirus infection.
