The families of the suborder Brachycera Schiner, 1862 (Insecta: Diptera): Part 1

Brachycera Schiner, 1862 is distinguished from the mosquitoes suborder Nematocera by their short antennae, with few segments. The antennae are formed by three segments of articles, the last of which ends in a long bristle, the arista, or in a multi-segmented article.
