Recent political events and economic changes observed in the Middle East region in general and in the Republic of Yemen in particular have had an impact on social infrastructure and its role in society: there is a need to restore destroyed and build new public buildings of modern types, taking into account local culture and traditions. Since Yemeni society is characterized by its diversity, customs and traditions that have been formed over thousands of years, further development of the typology of public buildings in the country is necessary on a scientific basis in order to ensure continuity on the one hand, and compliance with international quality standards on the other. The article presents the results of the analysis of the experience of designing and building modern public centers in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Current architectural trends are identifies and, based on this, further directions for the development of the typology of public buildings in the Republic of Yemen are outlined.
