Besonderheiten osteopathischer Forschung

Applied osteopathic medical research often focuses on external scientific evidence, with randomized controlled trials (RCT) and meta-analyses as the gold standard. Investigators mostly collect data on defined outcomes or evaluate the results of treatments from the perspective of the patients (patient-reported outcome measures – PROMs).

So far, a specifically osteopathic point of view on health disorders has played a minor role and is reported only sporadically. In order to be able to evaluate this field – which has until now received little interest – the instrument of OCROOMs (osteopathic clinicians-reported opinions and outcome measures) is proposed in the form of a mixed-methods approach.
