Practice of pratyahara, accentuates mastery over sensory perceptions and chitta’s reaction to them, Dharaṇa (meditative focusing) and ekagrata (focusing without meditation). As the term ‘meditation’ is so broad, and its therapeutic uses encompass many conditions including pain, mental health and somatic conditions, research on such diverse modalities and outcomes has been conducted in a systematic scientific manner.
