Today, the trend of non-formal and informal education, which is rapidly growing thanks to digital platforms, is relevant. The article describes the practical base of implementation of non-formal education in IT. Theoretical methods of scientific knowledge are used, including terminological analysis to clarify the concepts of \"formal education\" and \"non-formal education\"; structural and logical analysis to identify the forms of implementation of non-formal education; content analysis to determine the features of the performance of non-formal education in the field of IT. An analysis of formal education as a legally defined form of education is carried out, its description is provided, and the types of formal education in Ukraine are specified. The thesis on the need to provide alternative forms of education, particularly non-formal, for rapidly developing spheres and, therefore, require timely support from educational institutions is substantiated. The authors describe the essence of non-formal education and the forms of its implementation (training, workshops, seminars, workshops, summer/winter schools, clubs, and communities). It has been found that non-formal education is characterized by the following features: scramble and individualization, practical orientation, efficiency, results, and democratic communication style.
