Manevi Baypas Ölçeği’nin Türkçe Formunun Psikometrik Özellikleri
: Spiritual bypassing is the propensity to avoid emotional discomfort and pain by practicing spiritual beliefs and practices. Some people in Turkey may choose to use religious and spiritual coping to avoid dealing with psychological difficulties, known as spiritual bypass. Since its development, the Spiritual Bypass Scale-13 has been studied in various cultural groups. Spiritual Bypass Scale-13 has two subscales: Spiritualization and Psychological Avoidance. The Spiritual Bypass Scale-13 was developed to assess the two main components of spiritual bypass—avoidance and spiritualising. The purpose of this study is to translate Spiritual Bypass Scale-13 into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties. Participating adults (N = 240) completed the Turkish translated version of the scale and demographic items. The confirmatory factor analysis results supported a two-factor model consisting of psychological avoidance and spiritualising factors. Second-order factor model that explained both psychological avoidance and spiritualising also fit well. According to the results of the validity of the known groups, Spiritualization was negatively related to being a woman and level of education; Psychological avoidance and total score are positively related to being religious. Within the scope of reliability analysis, the internal consistency coefficient of the scale showed that the scale was reliable. This study presented the first psychometric evidence in Turkey.

期刊介绍: Turkey is a country whose importance is rapidly growing in international affairs. A rapidly developing democratic state with a strong economy, complex society, active party system, and powerful armed forces, Turkey is playing an increasingly critical role in Europe, the Middle East, and the Caucasus. Given Turkey"s significance and the great interest in studying its history, politics, and foreign policy, Turkish Studies presents a forum for scholarly discussion on these topics and more.
