The main purpose of this article is to review and summarize the main features of the rational design of medicinal products for veterinary use. The search and processing of scientific publications were carried out according to the recommendations of H. Snyder for writing review articles. In English and Russian, thematic publications were searched in bibliographic databases (Elibrary, CyberLeninka, Pubmed, Scopus (Elsevier), Web of Science (Clarivate)) using the keywords: “drug development”, “drag design” , “structurally based drag design” with further highlighting of the most cited ones. Articles published before 2013 were used only if they contained information critical to the topic that was missing in later publications. Rational drug design is the most relevant area of research in the field of drug development. This approach makes it possible to predict in advance the properties of synthesized structures. Using modern computer modeling and data analysis techniques, organic chemists can effectively design molecules with desired pharmacological properties.
