These membranes create a controlled environment that facilitates tissue and bone regeneration around dental implants, enhancing treatment outcomes. The article delves into the ideal attributes of barrier membranes, including biocompatibility, mechanical stability, selective permeability, and more. It also explores various forms of barrier membranes, such as expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), collagen, and pericardium membranes, highlighting their unique advantages and considerations. The clinical applications, drawbacks, and future directions of these membranes are discussed, shedding light on their role in managing complex cases.
