The largest producers transport animals both in intra-EU trade and to third countries. Transporting animals, especially over long distances, involves significant environmental costs. In contrast, the transport of carcasses or meat is more beneficial in terms of its impact on the environment and climate change. It appears that changes in this area may be accelerated by pressure from consumer choices.
