[Use of the balloon catheter in dilatation of corrosive stenosis of the esophagus].
During the period between October 1985 and the end of March 1988 from a total number of 269 dilatations in 29 patients with benign stenoses of the oesophagus of varying origin and in one patient with malignant stenosis 109 operations were made in 5 patients with corrosive stenoses. Three of these five patients suffered from double stenosis. For dilatation balloon catheters of Cook Co. were used. In the whole group only once a complication was observed, in the group of patients with corrosive stenoses no complication developed.
