Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is used for efficient utilization of the solar power. The system is connected to a battery storage system for domestic applications through a buck converter. The buck converter is mathematically modelled using state space averaging method. The system transfer function is used to design a closed loop current charge controller by specifying the transient parameters required for fast and stable operation of the system. The simulations are done in MATLAB - Simulink platform. The Proportional - Integral (PI) controller designed using the transfer function model is then used for simulation of the whole system.
