Shunt active power filter based on flying capacitor multilevel inverter for harmonic mitigation
Power electronic systems offer highly nonlinear characteristics. In order to overcome this problem, a recent topology of three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) based on flying capacitor multilevel inverter (FCMI) is developed. This research study is aimed to improve the power quality by compensating harmonics and reactive power required by a nonlinear load. Simulation results of our proposed topology compared With the classical one are given to demonstrate that the use of the FCMI enhances the system performances. In fact, the power quality is improved with a minimum switching losses and the total harmonic distortion of the grid-side current is reduced to a value that satisfying the IEEE standard limits.
