Femtosecond microscopy of an expanding 3 -size aluminum plasma excited at relativistic intensity
A λ2-size spot of an aluminum target excited at >1018W/cm2 is found to expand radially and vertically at nearly 108cm/s by imaging radial expansion with <1µm resolution and inferring vertical expansion from time-resolved resonance absorption.
