Social Justice and the Socialist Distribution of Vital Goods

At the lbenty-seventh Congress of the CPSU, questions bearing on the social policy of the Party as an inseparable part of the strategy of accelerating social progress were approached in a way that was in many respects new. As was stressed in the political report of the Central Committee of the CPSU to the Congress, the level of development achieved in Soviet society and the scale of the new tasks posed by the Party call for a long-term, well-thought-out, integral, and forceful social policy embracing all aspects of the life of society. "If we are able to make a decisive turn toward the social sphere, then many of today's and tomorrow's problems in our life will be resolved more rapidly and more effectively than has been the case up to now."1
