THE PROSPECT OF DEVELOPING A HYDROGEN ECONOMY FOR CARBON NEUTRALITY IN THE US AND JAPAN
As part of the energy transition and achieving goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, hydrogen is identified as a clean "green" fuel, which is a priority topic of interest for development and stimulation by the state. Currently, there are practical limitations to the widespread use of hydrogen, including a physical property (density) that makes storage and transportation difficult, as well as high operating costs for new technologies. Corresponding challenges can be solved on the basis of regulatory measures and on the basis of scaling up the production of key technologies. The purpose of the study is to analyze the regulatory component to determine the main development trends and priorities of the hydrogen economy in the United States and Japan to ensure carbon neutrality. A systematic and comparative analysis was chosen as the main approach to the study, various approaches to the development of hydrogen energy in various countries of the world were considered. The materials of the article are of practical value for the fuel and energy complex of countries, for improving systems based on control, planning and coordination systems of the leading countries in the hydrogen field. The results of the article can be taken into account by fuel and energy companies when developing strategies for their further strategic development.
