Forest fire preventing system: Requirements and challenges
Wireless Sensors Networks began to be highly appreciated during last decade because of the large variety of monitoring areas where they can be used: forests, medicine, cities, tools, people. In the paper, it has been decided to use Wireless Sensors Networks to monitor a forest and prevent forest fire. Three main functionalities of the application were identified such as real-time monitoring, alarms and forest fire prediction. To meet these requirements, the authors propose ForestFireWeb platform, a web-based application which collects data from a wireless sensor network, processes the specific data and displays it as graphs in GUI to be used by people. Taking into consideration the proposed application and integrating different sensor requirements, the research activity has been focused on: Communication Protocols Challenges, Prediction Algorithms Challenges and finally Application Software Challenges.
