To exploit the similarity among the neighboring pixels, the quadtree segmentation technique is used to divide the color image into variable-sized blocks based on their block activities. Different rules are used to encode the image blocks of different sizes. Color Image Coding Based on Block Truncation Coding using Quadtree Segmentation
