The effect can be used as a generic method to guide the design of the special electrical machines called compensated pulsed alternators (compulsator or CPA) and improve the power output. With the shield technique, the internal inductance of a CPA is reduced greatly to tens of micro-henry making Possible very high current and power output when the CPA discharges.
