To align this example with Chapter 5, we use the questions from that chapter as organisers. Despite several challenges associated with COVID-19, the evaluation sought the perspectives of children, families, and educators about their expectations and experiences of the transition to school during 2019-2020. Analysis of narrative data collected by a small team of external researchers identified the importance of relationships in transition, affective/emotional elements of the transition, the perceived effectiveness of transition activities, connections between place and transition, and the importance of rules and routines at school.
