This analysis intends to draw attention to the lack of good software design in the area of knowledge processing systems and at the same time provides a smaller catalogue of design patterns with proven usage in practice, to support development. The design patterns were identified manually in a structured analysis by reverse engineering the source code, supported by a design pattern detection tool.
