Automation of Power Distribution System for a Model of Smart Grid
The Smart grid technology uses the integration of communication, automation, and power sources to assure a safe and reliable electric grid. Integrating new technologies to the electric grid will result a grid with more efficient and reduce the down time for a distribution line due to single or multiple faults. Our proposed automated system will work to monitor and control a real-world like model of a smart grid for AC distribution lines. A microcontroller will be reading the information derived by the current sensors to continuously detect sudden changes in current. When fault occurs in the system it will be detected by the sensor and communication mechanism. The computing station will automatically communicate with relays to isolate the fault. Once the fault has been isolated, the fault indicator will be triggered and a notification about detection and localization of fault will be issued.
