LA CONTRIBUCIÓN DE PETER BERGER A LA SOCIOLOGÍA Y LA SOCIOLOGÍA DE LA RELIGIÓN

: Peter Berger is undoubtedly one of the most influential sociologists of the last 60 years. Moreover, his worldwide influence and reputation transcend sociology and extend to the field of theology and the sciences of religion. Because of his accessible way of writing, Berger must be recognized as a truly global public intellectual. In this text, I analyze his major contributions to sociology and, above all, to the sociology of religion, whether methodological, conceptual, substantive. To this end, I will examine his most important works in the sociological field, while constantly relat-ing them to the different political, scientific and academic contexts experienced by Berger and to the intellectual and spiritual challenges to which he tried to respond in each historical situation.
