A Technical Implementation of Frequency Subordinate Control of WPG
This paper investigates a frequency subordinate control of Wind Power Generation (WPG) without any storage device. With the development of power electronics technology in recent decade has given an opportunity to utilize the Renewable Energy Source (RES) based generation to the maximum extent. Among different RES generations, Wind power installation in India has grown exponentially. With the dissemination of wind power generation into the grid is growing progressively and consumption of wind power as a stand-alone source of power generation feeding power to remote locations. A frequency-based demand control technique is investigated consisting of Wind turbine, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator, Main Load and Secondary load. The frequency of the stand-alone WPG feeding main load is maintained at a desired level by controlling the power flow to the secondary load. The performance of the control technique is inspected under constant and variable wind speed in MATLAB/ Simulink environment and the simulation results exhibit adequate controller action.
