At first, a modified Delaunay triangulation algorithm is applied to the feature points extracted on the boundary lines in the image. Then linear interpolation is done within every triangular region using the gray-value at these feature points. Thus the approximately represented image is described with triangular patches. Using this image description method, an image coding method with progressive build-up is proposed.
