Under specific circumstances this heating causes evaporation of moisture in the soil, so that resistance and temperature, considering mutually strong positive feedback, start to rise progressively. This kind of unstable condition causes spiral breakdown, which can be followed by extremely high values of soil resistance, inadmissible high values of grounding system potential and finally by high values of touch voltage and step voltage.
